Earlier today a friend and I were talking about his young business (it involves graphic design, illustration, writing & storytelling). He was very animated about his increasing skill as an artist and elaborating it to me in detail.
In an appropriate pause in his description I stated an observation: what he was saying was true, but it seemed somewhat academic and conceptual.
I asked if he’d be willing to switch to talking about actions he could take now.
To his credit he acknowledged my observation and concurred. He turned his attention to tasks he could take and in short order was excitedly creating a script for an Instagram reel, creating a discount bundle in his Shopify store, pondering pricing options for a membership club, and what he could send out to his members on a monthly basis that would be of value to them.
In other words he escaped *into* action. By doing so he left the world of what Robert Greene called, “Fantastical Grandiosity,” and he re-entered the realm of “Practical Grandiosity.”
If you tend to inhabit the realm of dreaming rather than acting, you may have unresolved issues from childhood that conspire to keep you from putting yourself and your creative best out into the world.
If that might be the case, why not setup a free 30-minute video call to explore the possibility. You have nothing to lose, and possibly everything to gain. Schedule your call here: robertbmoran.com
