Today I was doing my morning spiritual practice: I read some passages and then I prayed and meditated. Part of the prayer that I’d written a few months ago includes the line “Thank you God. I imagine having the things that I want to have.” That prompted me to think, “Well, what *do* I want?”
One of the things that I want it to get rid of all the boxes that I have in my living room. I want a boxless apartment.
As I meditated on what that meant, I did what Julia Cameron suggests in her book The Artist’s Way. I “dropped into the well.” That means that rather than *me* think of how to get from “boxed in” to “boxless,” I quieted my mind and was open to whatever ideas came to mind.
What came to mind was to make a sketch the boxes: how many was I talking about and where are they? On the left of my couch there are 14 boxes, on the right there are 13, and directly across from the couch against the opposite wall there are three more. Aha! 30 boxes total.
